Grove City- Growing Forward!

The City of Grove City (GC) is an outer-ring suburb of the Columbus metropolitan area in southwestern Franklin County, Ohio in Jackson Township. Founded in 1853 and incorporated in 1866, the town was originally founded due to its potential growth due to its close proximity to the Harrisburg Turnpike which ran from Columbus to points south. It also provided convenient access to the Scioto River to the east which enabled farmers and local businesses access to transporting goods to and from the Ohio and Erie Canal system. In 1884, the Cincinnati, Midland and Columbus Railroad completed construction of a new rail line and the Grove City Depot further strengthening the village’s growth and future. From 1898-1929 the village had a dedicated interurban electric passenger train service known as “Grove City and Greenlawn Street Railway Line”, the line ran from GC to Columbus, then to several other local villages and cities. The interurban was part of the Scioto Valley Traction Line, an electric railroad that connected Columbus, Groveport, Canal Winchester, Carroll, Lancaster, Ashville, Circleville, Kingston, Chillicothe, and other local points.

Today, GC thrives due to its prime location near I-71 and I-270, providing convenient access to Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and other regional cities, as well as John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) and Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK). John Glenn provides passenger service while Rickenbacker primarily provides freight and cargo service with limited passenger service. GC is currently reported to be home to over 1,200 businesses, including several business/industrial parks, providing residents with ample employment opportunities. With its convenient location for local commuters, solid schools, ample shopping, dining, recreational, and entertainment options all within city limits GC is set to be a prime Central Ohio location for many years to come!

The GC real estate market has historically been and remains to this day, very strong and diverse. The consistent growth it has seen throughout the years has provided a very wide range of properties from turn of the century Colonials, mid-century modern style, to modern day builds. While the majority of housing units within the market are single family homes there is a very good blend of 2-4 unit and multi-unit apartments, as well as condominium units. In the 2018 calendar year, the 43123 zip code recorded over 1.200 single-family sales with a low sales price of $12,000, a high sales price of $743,294, and a median sales price of $190,000. From small homes on postage stamp lots to multi-acre estate type properties, GC has real estate for just about anyone!
